Switch the keyboard? You mean as in get anther keyboard, or..? It's kinda hard to find a keyboard with eth and thorn on it...

Oh god no, you just go to the bar at the bottom of your screen click EN (english keyboard…), show language bar, settings, add keyboard, Icelandic keyboard…

I know the alphabet and most of the keyboard shortcuts for the special characters, and I can pronounce most words I read, it's just not nearly enough.

Indeed. Why don’t you just switch the keyboard? there’s no need to learn the shortcuts…I found the pronounciation to be reasonable considering….
